February. Lady of the 12 months part II. An illustration for each month, describing them with their significant happenings in weather, in the celebration cycle of the year, a bit of my own Hungarian culture and my inner world.
Here, February is like the naughty little sister of January, who causes a lot of noise with the carnival cavalcade and jokes around with her days: sometimes 28 sometimes 29... Her guardians are the Hungarian Busos who are people wearing devil masks and fur coats, making a huge fire and causing a lot of noise in the middle of February in order to chase and scare winter away.
She is also marked with the Ash Cross, symbolising Ash Wednesday, the upcoming season of the Lenten.
My mind connects colors to each month automatically and February has a lavender, faded purple.

As a fun fact, about the illustration in the middle: The ice queen of January is the first member of my new digital drawing series: The Ladies of the 12 months.
January has blue colors in my mind, and it is still cold and frosty. We get a lot of snow therefore her hair resembles as a blanket of snow. However the little flowers, the snowdrops already starts to pop up here and there in nature, so she shows that we are over of the darkest days and more light, spring is coming. Slowly, but surely.
The huge bright star represents the star that led the three wise men with their gifts to meet the new born Saviour.
The Avocabrio was made to a friend who adores Avocado and cars, so for her birthday I made this design that I printed on a T-shirt.
